So its been a while since i posted last. well a long while. i'm starting to get the photography itch again. started playing with a reversed 50mm lens in front of my d70s today, had some fun it helped bring back that spark of inspiration that I've been seeming to lack for a while. i geuss it's because i get inspired when i get new toys and since im flat broke i havent been able to get any new toys. so im gonna play with what i have in a different way than intendid use. i had a 50mm carl zeiss lens sitting on a broken camera bidy in my closet and i said hey i wonder of i could use that with my nikon reversed. so today i hand held some shots got

So I got a new macbook pro last week, an ive been playing wit it for about 3 days now. I'm still trying to procure copies of software I need but slowly but surely I'm getting there. I'm am planning to have windows as well as OS X being that this is an intel based mac. Only becasue at the current time photoshop will run faster in the windws environment tan it will on the mac, because adobe wont releae an update to support inte based macs. So I'll probably continue to pirate this copy until adobe releases the next version of its suite that supports intel based macs. So thats whats new everythin g else is old news. Oh yah im doing a photoshoot f

It's been a long time since I've seen or talked to anybody. Well I geuss here is a short synopsis of what has become of Gib. I've been working day in day out at a camera store, selling cameras and printing pictures. It's ok I geuss, it pays the bills and keeps me fed. I've appliedfor a school here in commercial photography, theyhavean excelent program layout, basically they haave a buisness program weaved in with photography as well as some classes that are incorparted with the publishing arts students. Right nowthe program is all based off 4X5 film cameras, but when I start it will most likely be digital almost entirely. so I'm looking to ge

OMG you are such a good artist/photographer :o
Nice gallery, fellow Coloradoan! :highfive:
Thanks for the watch!
You have the greatest gallery. All crisp and nice! I'm watching you!
yay gib is atching me yay.
i think i can sum up all of your photo issues (from my point of view) in two things. number one, take the same pics, just from different places. dont be afraid to lay down on the street to get a good pic of a fire hydrant, or a trash can, that kind of thing. try to avoid taking shots at eye level unless you are trying to use that as a sign that you are the viewer as a human on the spot. number two, contrast. i think more contrast would do almost all of your shots a lot of good. they seem pretty flat for the most part, and i think that would really help them out.

take it for what its worth, could be a lot, could be nothing, thats just how i see it.

keep posting stuff, im enjoying seeing what you come up with!
as for reason number onei do have a message that im trying to tell here. I think alot of my photography is of things a normal person doesn't stop to recognise on a daily basis. when as hthe last time you stood and looked at a trsh can or a fire hydrant and see it for its archetectual artistic qualities. one of my goals is to create an almost realism about it. make some one go wow i would have never noticed that a trashcan actually is pretty cool looking. and for point 2 of the contrast levels. i think the contrast is sitting where i wanted it. there are both extremes in every pic. i like to have as true as it gets whites and blacks. i think the flatness you see comes fro depth of field which is an issue i have had do to the lack of equipment i have. my good camera was brolen so ive been using a sears roebuck slr camera and a few lens with that. by icreasing the contrast on some of these pics i loose alot of detail in the black areas and to me some of those are important. like with the tunnel if i increase contrast i get a silluette of kelida instead of some but limited detail.
